Text Box:   Sorry my friends that you didn’t recieve a June issue of the bulletin! The reason? I didn’t write one! Not because the chapter has not been active but mainly because of the soccer World Cup. Being English, I watched every game (64 of them!) on the TV and saw every goal, hoping that my native country would win, but it was not to be, they lost in the quarter finals. This only happens every four years, and I am an avid soccer fan, so I am sure you’ll excuse me for being so “non-barbershop” for one month, I have attended every rehearsal during that time though!
During the time mentioned above you may have noticed that I have also changed my appearance. Indeed, at one rehearsal David Brown even thought we had a new member in the baritones! At the beginning of the month long World Cup tournament I vowed not to shave until England were eliminated, well they lasted for about three weeks! By then I had a full beard. Then, when the time came for me to shave it off, my wife Connie said that she liked it and so it looks as though I will be sporting it for a while. It might be appropriate for our fall show which is called “Gold Fever” and is set in the 1849 gold rush era! Maybe, we should all grow one as part of the costume! If we start now, we should have some wonderfully long ones by then. I am not sure whether all the wives would agree to this though. Let’s ask ‘em!

Text Box:   The president has not submitted a report but I know he must be pleased with the progress we are making with the show songs and with the summertime attendance at rehearsals. We have also had numerous chorus performances which have been fairly well attended and produced a good sound each time.
We have had a couple of board meetings, again well attended, during which many topics were discussed including Clemson, a preliminary advertising plan for the fall show and which local charity we will support this year.
The weekly rehearsals are going  well and much fun is being had by all, even while we are learning at the same time, although there are still a few members leaving at the break. Please don’t leave unless it is very urgent for you to do so. We need you to stay for what we do in the second period of the rehearsal. We finish about 9:30 which is by no means a late hour.
We have several fun events planned which include Clemson (July 21-23), a chapter quartet contest on August 28 (see article) and the Hilton Head picnic on October 1. We want as many members as possible to be involved with these events so please plan to be there.
